- Trip highlights
We travel to the most coveted tour destination in eastern Bhutan. The places, Merak and Sakten, conjure up images of a hidden world where a unique tribe, the Brokpa, lives, zealously guarding their ancient lifestyle. They are the nomads, who live off Yaks, in a land – as far as local folklores go – was once the exclusive domain of Yeti, the elusive snowman. With this trek, we follow the footsteps of these nomads, as they dwell herding Yaks, tending homes, keeping their traditions alive against the relentless onslaught of modernization knocking on their doors. We take a peek into their daily lives, and observe the lush environs in which they eke out a living. We also enter a land replete with flora and fauna within an ecosystem that is as pristine as it is amazingly beautiful.
